Questionnaire Analysis

Questionnaire analysis

In order to get audience feedback I had to design a questionnaire which I would then distribute out to ten users of my music magazine, they would study my music magazine on the blogger and answer the question in the questionnaire.
The feedback from this questionnaire would then help me if I was to do this task in the future to build on my skills.

One of the questions that feature on the questionnaire is question number 6 ‘How can I improve the music magazine?’ one respondent out of the five that where asked said ‘I think the contents page lacked images of the artists and should add more of different models’ this is a critical evaluation and I would definitely take this into consideration and if I was to do this again I would of added more images to this page but not just of the cover star.

Another respondent for question 4 of the questionnaire ‘what do you think works well through the music magazine? Replied ‘The images where really good, reflects the rnb genre’ this is another very positive aspect from the audience which means that some of the audience does enjoy the images but some also think more could be added, which then means if I was to do this task again I would maybe take some more photographs which then gives me the opportunity to add more to the magazine.

However I do feel the aim of the magazine, which was to reach a target audience and portray the rnb lifestyle yet fight the stereotypes have really been achieved through my magazine. Ten out of the ten respondents asked stated on a rating of 1 to 10 how is my magazine as a whole ever respondent circled the rating 5 or above, meaning that the overall magazine has appealed to my target audience which was 15-24 year olds.

One question I thought was important to find out was how I could improve my magazine for future reference. One respondent replied ‘add more text to the front cover to make it look more full’ I do feel this is an element that I would consider changing but I felt my initial idea was to make the image on the front cover suggestively speak for itself; by using the large image of the model on a chair looking towards the camera I felt it was if the model was interacting with the audience. But however I would most definitely take this into consideration in the future to improve my existing work and more work to come.
Another respondent replying to this same question said ‘ I wouldn’t of used that photo for the double page spread the other one you took was better’, with this feedback I will reflect on in my work; for this reason I will consider changing the image for this page or consider designing 2 or 3 different drafts of this page using different images to see which image fitted best.

However one aspect of the magazine that I noticed from the audience feedback was that 7 out of the 10 respondents asked said if they thought my magazine reflected more than one genre, an example is that 9 people both circled the ‘RnB’ genre and the ‘Dance’ genre which can be an advantage in some cases but because my whole page was based on the RnB genre this needs to be taken into consideration for the future. To draw my magazine more towards the genre for the future I will take more different images, changing the location of the photographs to try and improve my work.

An additional question in the questionnaire stated ‘what do you think of the name of the magazine’, 10 out of 10 of the respondents all similarly liked the name and thought it was a good idea for this type of genre. One respondent said ‘I like the name, it reflects the genre of the magazine’, another respondent stated ‘ I like the name of the magazine because it is different and goes with the look of the cover’. All this feedback is very important to me and means that the name of the magazine was successful.
