I am an employee in an advertising company, I have been asked to produce a magazine advert for a new women’s perfume fragrance.
I changed my ideas about the perfume several times but after much consideration I decided to keep to this idea, the aim of my perfume advert was to symbolise purity and beauty without using the chosen words. I wanted my fragrance to be targeted at young women.
The original idea was to use a single model and the fragrance bottle, as I didn’t want to over look the aim of the advertisement, which was to prove everyone’s beautiful and all you need is this fragrance bottle. To do this I used colours I thought represented beauty and elegance yet still focused on the fragrance bottle itself, so I chose to have the image of the model in black and white to again show sophistication then edited the chosen perfume bottle to pink along with the models lips to make it eye catching and representative of beauty.
I wanted the perfume bottle to symbolise an apple, in order to accomplish this I selected an apple that I thought was the most sweetest in taste, which was ‘pink lady’, and this was going to be the name of my fragrance.
To start off the advertisement I took several pictures of my friend looking as if she was biting the perfume, this was again to make the bottle look like an apple and biting it as if she was biting the beauty and sweetness from the bottle. After choosing the image, I edited it on photo shop to shadow around the image of the model then made the models lips pink and the bottle of perfume pink to symbolise her biting the sweetness out of the apple, in making her lips pink I wanted it to show the beauty and the sweet taste within the fragrance.
It took much consideration in thinking of a slogan to use on the advertisement, I wanted the slogan to try and prove the aroma of the perfume and show what the bottle was symbolising without saying it. ‘taste as sweet as an apple’ was my final chosen slogan, I was really happy with this as it really shows the hidden meaning.
My advert would best be displayed in a pop music magazine or a women’s magazines, simply because my fragrance is aimed at young girls and because I really enjoy those type of magazines and want my fragrance to be worn by young girls interested in those types of magazines.
Overall I think the designing of my advert went quite smoothly throughout, however I did take too much time in planning ideas and what I wanted my fragrance to represent.
In general I think if I was to do this task again I would definitely spend more time on planning the design of the advert rather then just going straight into the designing of the fragrance as it becomes easier.
